RDA NSW & ACT, together with Economic Development Australia (EDA), held a Housing Supply Workshop event at the Kimpton Margot Hotel, Sydney on Wednesday 12 October 2022, aiming to discuss complex housing supply issues, not only those in New South Wales but across Australia, and to identify solutions and opportunities to progress the economic advancement of communities.

The Housing Supply Workshop was attended by a national audience, bringing together more than 120 government representatives, economic development practitioners, and regional stakeholders, including more than 20 RDA representatives. Speakers, presenters and participants had an opportunity to engage and discuss initiatives, priorities and challenges, at the local, state and federal levels.

The event hosted a broad range of local, national and international specialists who shared their knowledge, case studies, and innovative solutions. There were three panel discussions, with audience participation, that covered the following topics:

1. The current situation, both locally and nationally, by understanding the data sources
2. Examine short term practical solutions around what we could be doing right now to address the various housing
3. Consider what practical things we can do in the future and beyond and the policy framework to enable progress

While there are some very clear shared strategic priorities across the RDA regions, the complex housing issues require further commitment and collaboration between government, industry, entrepreneurs, landowners, financial institutions, and the community.
