Under the programme, every federal electorate is allocated $150,000, with funds available to support up to 20 projects per electorate. Grants will range from $2,500 to $20,000, targeting initiatives that address local needs and priorities. Round 9 will open on 14 February 2025, with $22.65 million available to support infrastructure projects that provide social benefits for local communities across the country.
Eligible projects include upgrades to community and cultural facilities, as well as the purchase of critical equipment for regional emergency services. A key feature of Round 9 is the continuation of a transparent project nomination process. Local MPs are required to consult with their communities, including through the formation of community consultation committees. These committees provide a platform for residents to identify and prioritise projects that will deliver meaningful outcomes for their area.
The Stronger Communities Programme, which has delivered significant benefits since its inception, empowers communities to drive improvements that align with their specific needs.
