Procurement

A place-based approach

RDA Sydney is working on finding new ways to open opportunities for local SMEs to access procurement opportunities through government and corporate spending. Focused place-based approaches can create employment opportunities, grow local economies, and benefit the community more broadly. In partnership with NSW Local Government Procurement and ArcBlue Consulting RDA Sydney has delivered a series of webinars nationally on Procurement Strategies that can generate economic growth and local jobs. RDA Sydney is a member of the Western Sydney Procurement Committee hosted by the Western Parkland City Authority, a partner organisation in the development of the NSW Social Procurement Guidelines and secretariat support for Social Procurement Australasia. Local procurement, as a concept, means that an RDA Committee makes, seeks and encourages procurement decisions and activities that maximise benefits for its region. These benefits include, but are not limited to, economic and business development, creation of jobs, delivery of skills development and training, and opportunities to address disadvantage and hardship.
