Strengthening Regional Leadership: $117 Million Boost for RDAs

Regional communities across Australia are set to benefit from a significant funding boost, with the Albanese Government committing over $117 million to support Regional Development Australia (RDA) committees over the next five years.

Starting 1 July 2025, the new funding agreements will sustain the work of all 50 RDAs nationwide, enabling them to continue their vital role in assisting local communities and businesses.

RDAs are instrumental in identifying funding opportunities, both governmental and private, and in supporting organisations to develop competitive proposals. Beyond this, RDAs serve as a critical link between all levels of government, offering localised advice on the challenges and opportunities unique to their regions.

Their efforts drive tangible outcomes, from boosting local economies and fostering business growth to strengthening community connections.

Minister for Regional Development Catherine King highlighted the network’s pivotal role in advancing the Albanese Government’s Regional Investment Framework.

“This funding reaffirms the importance of place-based initiatives and local expertise in shaping funding decisions. RDAs bring together insights and on-the-ground knowledge to support our regions in building a sustainable and prosperous future,” Minister King said.

The RDA network is uniquely positioned to help unlock the potential of regional Australia by supporting economic development and nurturing the leadership needed to tackle future challenges.
